Give your garden a tropical feel with these glorious Oleander standards. This eye catching evergreen shrub is one of the UK's favourite and easiest to grow exotics. The funnel shaped blooms flower through the summer and well into autumn, followed by fascinating bean-like seed pods. Hardy down to -6°C (21.2F) this attractive shrub has been trained into a standard and makes a superb specimen. In cold areas, grow Oleanders in containers on the patio which can be moved to a protected position during the coldest winter months. Please take care when handling Oleander as contact with the foliage may irritate the skin. Oleander is toxic if eaten. Height: 120cm (47"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Flowering Months
Lightly prune Oleander shrubs in late spring to remove any shoots that spoil the shape of the plant. Reduce the stems to fit the available space, and remove any damaged, crossing or wayward stems. If necessary, Oleander plants will tolerate occasional hard regenerative pruning. Deadhead faded Oleander flowers regularly to prolong their display. Take care to wear gloves and long sleeves when pruning Oleander as contact with the foliage and sap may irritate the skin.
Pot up Oleander plants and grow them on in a cool, bright position until large enough to plant outside. Prior to transplanting, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days. Plant Oleander bushes in a sheltered position in fertile, moist, well drained soil in full sun. Oleander nerium plants are hardy down to -6°C (21.2°F). In particularly cold areas they are best grown in a patio container that can be moved to a sheltered position over winter.
