Description

Groundcover Roses are the perfect way to create a colourful summer display. These tough and resilient Roses have a broad, spreading habit, that will fill borders and carpet banks with ease. Groundcover roses are always free flowering, with most repeat-blooming throughout the summer. Many produce brightly coloured rose hips which extend the display well into autumn. Tough and resilient, they will cope in most soils and situations and offer good disease resistance - perfect for those awkward, corners of the garden , or improving security around boundaries. To allow us to offer you such a good price, we can't take orders for specific varieties, but whatever we decide to send, you won't be disappointed! Height: 80cm (31"). Spread: 100cm (39").

  • The roses collection will contain at least two different varieties from the following selection:
  • Rose ‘County of Hampshire’ - bright-pink, semi-double flowers and glossy green foliage.
  • Rose ‘Hertfordshire’ - Carmine pink flowers with a central boss of golden stamens.
  • Rose ‘Suffolk’ - Scarlet blooms with a delicate fragrance, and orange-red hips in autumn.
  • Rose ‘Worcestershire - Dainty primrose yellow, single flowers with a light perfume.
  • Rose ‘Berkshire’ - Semi-double, bright pink blooms with a delicate fragrance.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In late summer begin pruning climbing roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged stems. For the first two years the remaining stems should be trained horizontally on wires. From the third year, the main stems can be reduced to maintain the plant within the available growing space. Side shoots should be reduced to 3 buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
