Description

Thank you for buying this packet of seeds! I know you'll enjoy growing them and that you'll love to see the colourful flowers growing in your garden or on your patio. Every packet sold will provide much-needed funds to this very worthwhile charity which supports children living with cancer. The money raised also goes towards funding research into understanding and treating childhood cancers. By buying these seeds, you're helping!

These are a limited edition packet with 25% of each packet sold going to Children With Cancer UK.

Like a giant version of the traditional field Poppy, this richly coloured annual is perfect for adding quick and easy colour to bedding and borders. Plus, the eye-catching scarlet petals fall away to reveal decorative seed heads, great for drying.

1 packet (150 poppy seeds) (11154)

Sowing
Sow March to May thinly in shallow drills 30cm (12 inches) apart in well cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth.Alternatively, sow late summer in 7.5cm (3 inch) pots in a cool greenhouse and then overwinter plants in cool, well lit conditions. Plant out the following spring after all risk of frost, 30cm (12 inches} apart.

Thin out seedlings to 30cm (12 inches) apart when large enough to handle.

How to Grow

Will grow in any well-drained soil in full sun.

Caution: harmful if eaten.

Culinary note: All poppies are poisonous. However, the seeds produced by somniferum and paeoniflorum poppies only can be eaten. Typically, they are used in bakery recipes. For more details about edible flowers click here.
