Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Video
Miscanthus x giganteus is a vigorous grower, towering up to 3.5m (12') with ease, which makes it ideal as an inpenetrable screen or windbreak. During September and October this deciduous perennial grass produces sprays of arching, grey-pink flowers from the top of the plant. As late autumn approaches the leaves turn from green to a lovely shade of orange-brown before fading to dark cream in winter. Stems can be left in place over winter to enjoy their colour and texture. Height: 3.5m (12'). Spread: 1.2m (4').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Feed and water Miscanthus plants regularly until fully established. Cut back dead foliage and stems to ground level in early spring before new growth appears. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Miscanthus grass every third year to maintain their vigour.
Grow Miscanthus grass in fertile, moist, well drained soil in full sun. Miscanthus Grass may resent soils that sit wet in winter. Prior to planting, improve drainage on particularly heavy soils by incorporating plenty of well rotted compost and grit.
