Flowering Months

Upright stems form a dense clump of deciduous slender foliage, with each leaf arching at the tips. This graceful perennial grass has a beautiful fountain shape that makes a stunning focal point. In late summer, sprays of red-brown flowers rise above the foliage creating a hazy effect that adds texture and movement to planting schemes. Miscanthus sinensis 'Volcano' is neat and compact, bringing structure and interest to beds and borders without becoming unruly. Height: 80cm (31"). Spread: 40cm (16").

How to Grow

Grow Miscanthus grass in fertile, moist, well drained soil in full sun. Miscanthus Grass may resent soils that sit wet in winter. Prior to planting, improve drainage on particularly heavy soils by incorporating plenty of well rotted compost and grit.

Feed and water Miscanthus plants regularly until fully established. Cut back dead foliage and stems to ground level in early spring before new growth appears. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Miscanthus grass every third year to maintain their vigour.
