Flowering Months

The exotic-looking blooms of this elegant perennial seem undeserving of its common name of Asian Skunk Cabbage! This clump forming marginal aquatic produces large white spathes which surround the fragrant, green flower spikes from April to May. The foliage emerges later with large, glossy leaves unfurling from the base of each spathe. Once established, Lysichiton camtschatcensis thrives in wet and boggy soils, earning itself a prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height and spread: 75cm (30"). Planting depth: Zones 1, 2 & 3 to 20cm (8") below water level.

How to Grow

Grow Lysichiton in boggy soils or submerged in the shallow margins of ponds with the crown to a maximum depth of up to 20cm (8") below water level. Choose a position in sun or semi shade.

Little maintenance is required. Cut back the dead foliage in late autumn to maintain a tidy appearance.
