Sowing
Soak the seeds overnight in cold water before sowing. Sow in spring 3mm (1/8in) deep in pots or boxes of good seed compost. Make sure that the compost is moist but not wet and seal in a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 18-21 days at 15-21C (60-70F).They can also be sown outdoors in spring in a reserve border and transplanted carefully in the autumn.

Transplant when large enough to handle into ordinary 7.5cm (3in) pots. Later plant out 30cm (12in) apart into a rich well drained soil in sun or part shade.
