Flowering Months
Feed and water Lathyrus nervosus plants regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead faded blooms to prevent seedpods developing. This will encourage more blooms to be produced and extend the flowering period throughout summer. Cut back old stems to ground level when they begin yellow in autumn. Lord Anson’s Pea is half hardy and may survive the winter outside in milder parts of the UK. In colder areas, it will require a thick dry mulch to protect it from cold, wet winter weather, or may be overwintered in a cold greenhouse.

Caution: Seeds are harmful if eaten.

Grow plants on in cool, bright conditions until large enough to transplant outdoors. Pinch out the growing tips of everlasting pea plants while they are still small, to encourage bushy growth. Plant in any fertile, well drained garden soil in full sun or semi-shade. When planting perennial sweet pea plants, add plenty of organic matter to the soil, such as well rotted manure or garden compost. Train the stems onto a suitable support such as trellis or a free standing climbing frame. Try using our sweet pea support rings to tie the stems to their growing supports while they become established.

Caution: Seeds are harmful if eaten.
