Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews Video
Dark purple-red buds open to reveal double, rose-pink flowers with a heady perfume from May to June. Lilac 'Paul Thirion' is a compact lilac with an upright habit. The well branched stems are cloaked in a dense covering of heart shaped foliage, making this a superb screening shrub or background plant for the back of mixed borders. Lilacs are loved by butterflies and pollinating insects and make excellent cut flowers. A versatile and easy grow shrub that is simply indispensible for cottage garden planting schemes. Height and spread: 4m (13’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Prune lilac bushes in winter or spring by removing any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems before lightly shaping the remaining stems. After pruning, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the shrub.
Grow lilac plants in rich fertile, well drained, neutral or alkaline soil in full sun. Young Lilacs will benefit from a sheltered position.
