Sowing Months Harvest Months
Water lettuce frequently and hoe between plants regularly to prevent weeds from establishing. Dry weather may cause heads of lettuce plants to bolt so watering is particularly critical during the 2 weeks before harvesting. A thick mulch applied around the plants will help to retain moisture in the soil. Harvest lettuce when required by pulling up the entire plant before trimming off the stem with a knife.
Direct sow lettuce seeds outdoors from March to August into well prepared, fertile, moist soil in sun or semi shade. Sow seeds thinly at a depth of 1cm (1/2") in drills 30cm (12") apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 30cm (12") apart and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects. Make regular sowings for a constant supply. This variety can also be sown more thickly and grown as a 'baby leaf'.

Great lettuce! 2014-01-19

This is the only lettuce that's worked for us. Good for successional sowing, and is slow to bolt. Keeps us in lettuce all Summer. Flavour's great, too.

My Favourite Lettuce 2011-10-15

Crisp sweet and delicious this is the best lettuce I have ever grown. It germinates easily and transplants without check. Lasts well without bolting. All round excellence its a must grow for us.

Excellent sweet crisp romaine lettuce. Lots of crisp and juicy inner leaves.

A Really Good Romaine Lettuce 2011-05-06

T & M say this is the tastiest of all Romaine Lettuces and they are right. Last season I grew another type of Romaine and it wasn't a patch on this variety. I sowed my first batch Mid March and started eating them very end of May. I will be succession sowing to ensure a crop all Summer long. Top Class Lettuce.
