1 packet (130 larkspur seeds) (48320)
Direct sow Larkspur seeds outdoors where they are to grow from April to May in full sun, on fertile, light, well-drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly at a depth of 6mm (1/4") in drills spaced 30cm (12") apart. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Germination usually takes 14-21 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 15cm (6") apart.
Alternatively for earlier flowering, sow Consolida seeds from August to October in 7.5cm (3") pots of good quality, moist seed compost. Place in a propagator or seal containers inside a plastic bag at a temperature of 15-20C (59-68F) until after germination. Once germinated, thin out to the strongest seedling and grow larkspur plants on in a cool, bright position. Over-winter plants in cool, bright but frost-free conditions and water sparingly. Plant Larkspur in their final positions in beds and borders the following spring.
