  • Mini kiwis packed with flavour

For something just as unique as our cucamelon but with the hardiness to return each summer with minimal care, Mini Kiwi Karawaja is the fruiting climber for you. Pick up to 500 grape sized fruits each summer. Unlike the traditional kiwi fruits, the little fruits of Karawaja are hairless and need no prep, simply eat from the plant, add them to fruit salads or try freezing them as fruity ice cubes for cocktails and juices. This hardy climber develops a decorative frame work over time, producing attractive foliage and flowers before fruits form and ripen for summer picking. Sweeter than other kiwis but still packed with juice, expect Karwaja to be the next must have fruit for gardens. Plant in soil under walls and fences or grow in our Tower Pot on patios and balconies. Kiwi 'Karawaja' is self fertile and does not require a pollinating partner. Height: 7m (23ft) Spread: 3.6m (12ft)

Feed and water regularly until fully established, particularly during hot dry periods. Train the stems onto their supports. In autumn apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant.
Grow kiwi plants in a sunny position in any fertile, well drained soil. A sheltered position is essential as kiwis are particularly sensitive to adverse weather conditions. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole. Plant kiwi vines at a distance of 5.5m (18’) apart, firm in and water well. Provide the twining stems with an appropriate support wires strung between sturdy posts, to train as an espalier.
