How to Grow
Ixia prefers a warm, sheltered position in full sun on moderately fertile, well drained soil. Plant Ixia bulbs at a depth of 15cm (6") and at a distance of 8cm (3") apart. Alternatively, grow ixia in containers of loam based compost such as John Innes No.2.
More Info
Water Ixia sparingly until the flower spikes appear. Thereafter, watering should be increased until the foliage begins to die back. In all but the warmest areas it is recommended that corms are lifted in autumn and stored over winter in dry, frost-free conditions until spring. Containers of Ixia plants can be moved to a warm, dry position over winter to avoid the need for lifting.
