Add an easy splash of colour to your summer borders or container displays with our mixed Iris hollandica bulbs. These beautiful Dutch irises produce exquisite, lightly fragrant blooms in a calming mix of blues, yellows and whites. Unfussy and reliable, they thrive in full sun but can cope with part shade. With silky petals held on tall, straight stems, Dutch iris make a stunning and long-lasting cut flower. Height: 60cm (24in). Spread: 15cm (6in).
Whilst many irises grow from rhizomes, Iris hollandica are grown from autumn-planting bulbs. Bulb size 7/8cm (large size for stronger plants and bigger blooms).

Plant Dutch Iris bulbs in autumn, at a depth of approximately twice their own height and 10cm (4") apart. Choose a position in full sun on any free draining soil. To create a natural effect, cast the bulbs across the area and plant them where they land. Alternatively, plant bulbs in deep containers of loam based compost such as John Innes No. 2.
More Info When growing Dutch Iris, allow their foliage to die back naturally before removing it in order to feed the bulb for the following spring. If growing Iris in containers, feed with a high-potash fertiliser after flowering to encourage larger bulbs to form. Lift and separate overcrowded clumps of Dutch iris bulbs in autumn.
