Description
This magnificent deciduous shrub is a real asset in lightly shaded borders, lighting up planting schemes with its showy late summer flowers. Conical flower heads open in creamy white and slowly transform to rich pink as each bloom matures. The effect is mesmerising, with different shades of white and pink flower heads appearing on the plant all at the same time. Hydrangea paniculata ‘Pink Diamond’ is reliable, hardy and easy to grow, making it worthy of its RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height and spread: 2m (78").

1 x 9cm potted hydrangea plant (KB2704)

How to Grow
Hydrangea paniculata prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any non alkaline, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.
More Info
Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. If necessary, Hydrangea paniculata will tolerate hard pruning of the oldest stems to a few buds from ground level. This will also encourage larger flower heads to be produced. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
