Create a delightful display in your garden with Hydrangea 'Frills'. Both these hydrangeas are macrophylla types and have a neat compact growth habit. They will grow up to 1 to 1.2 metres - ideal for garden borders or for growing in patio containers - why not flank a doorway with one each side?

'Red Frills' - Produces white flowers with deep red margins.
'White Frills' - Produces frilly edged white flowers with soft pink margins.

Hydrangeas are one of the easiest shrubs to grow, and will perform well whether grown in a sunny or shady spot. The blooms also make a very popular cut flower to add to your floral displays indoors.

Height and spread: 1 to 1.2 metres. Supplied as vigorous Powerliner® plants in August, the perfect time to establish your plant for next year.

Powerliner® plugs are well established, mature plugs which can be potted on or can be planted straight into the border or containers. Each plug module is 6.5cm in diameter.

How to grow hydrangeas

Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded Hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. After pruning Hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: Contact with Hydrangea foliage may irritate the skin and eyes and all parts are harmful if eaten.
Hydrangea Frilled Collection prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Alternatively plant Hydrangea Frilled Collection in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
