Description

This fabulous selection of daylilies will provide blooms from mid-summer to autumn without any fuss. They bear large, exotic-looking, trumpet-shaped flowers in a wide range of fabulous colours and patterns, with some varieties also being fragrant. Each individual flower only lasts a day, but they are produced constantly in succession over a long period. Plants quickly bulk up into sizeable clumps composed of handsome, arching, strap-like foliage. They make very reliable hardy perennials, which suffer from few pests and diseases, will tolerate even difficult soils like clay and demand very little maintenance.

Hemerocallis collection comprises:

  • Hemerocallis 'Berrylicious' – Raspberry-red flowers which look good enough to eat. Velveteen, deep red petals with crimpled dark edges and a yellow-green throat. Height and spread: 60cm (24").
  • Hemerocallis 'Celebration of Angels' - Sure to create an impact in the summer border with its dark, striking eye. Creamy yellow flowers with a darker edge, have a contrasting deep maroon centre and yellow-green throat. Height and spread: 60cm (24").
  • Hemerocallis 'Hello Screamer' – Large, exotic-looking flowers put on a show-stopping performance. Creamy-pink flowers, about 13cm wide, bear pink, ruffled edges and are boldly marked with a magenta centre and yellow-green throat. Height: 85cm (34"). Spread: 60cm (24").
  • Hemerocallis 'Mildred Mitchell' - A classic variety in a sophisticated colour palette which blends beautifully with other border perennials. Large, fragrant flowers up to 17cm wide, are delicately painted in lavender pink with a bluish-purple eye and yellow-green throat Height: 60-70cm (24" to 26"). Spread: 60cm (24”)
  • Hemerocallis 'Tropical Surprise' – A tropical punch of peach and raspberry which looks very exotic but is fabulously easy to grow. Fragrant, apricot flowers with deep purple centres and rippled margins. Height and spread: 60cm (24").

How to Grow
Plant bareroot daylilies at the earliest opportunity following delivery in moist, well drained, fertile soil, and situated in full sun. Growing hemerocallis plants in dry soils or shaded conditions may reduce the number of flowers produced.
More Info
For the best performance keep day lily plants well watered whilst they are in flower and deadhead faded daylily flowers regularly. In autumn remove any old, ragged foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the base of daylily plants.
