Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Thompson & Morgan were the first plant suppliers to introduce Goji berries into the UK. Remaining at the forefront of this Super Fruit we are pleased to introduce Goji Berry Synthia. All Gojis are easy to grow, and offer many health benefits. This new strain tastes better than previous introductions - even when used fresh - thanks to higher sugar levels, and remains packed with antioxidants and vitamin C. This hardy shrub-like plant is tolerant of harsh conditions, thriving in shade (but best grown in full sun for the biggest crops). Once established, Goji Synthia, will tolerate drought, wind, and salt-laden air, making it a perfect option for coastal gardens and wind swept sites. For the best yields grow goji berries against a wall, fence, trellis or obelisk. The lax stems can also be used as ground cover, but yields may be reduced. Summer flowers are followed by an early autumn crop of vibrant red berries, perfect for eating fresh, drying or preserves. Height and Spread: 2m (78").

Water goji berry plants regularly until they are fully established. Once established, they are drought tolerant and cope well in poor soils conditions. Goji plants benefit from some winter protection during their first two years; however with maturity they become increasingly hardy, tolerating temperatures down to -15°C (5°F). Prune goji berries in winter or early spring by removing any damaged or crowded growth and pruning the stems to fit the available space.
Pot up plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside in their final positions. Prior to transplanting them, acclimatise goji berry plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days. Plant goji berries in any well drained soil in full sun. When growing goji berries in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
