b>Garlic ‘Red Donetsk’ - A strong flavoured variety originating from Ukraine, with attractive purple striping.

b>Garlic ‘Early Purple Wight’ - The earliest hardneck variety currently available from autumn planting.

b>Garlic ‘Lautrec Wight’ - France's finest hardneck garlic producing very pretty bulbs with white outer skins and deep pink cloves.

b>Garlic ‘Vallelado’ - A spanish softneck variety with strong flavour, developed in the north of the country, making it better suited to the UK climate and growing conditions.

b>Garlic ‘Wight Cristo’ - A softneck variety producing pure white bulbs with an elegant bouquet.

b>Garlic ‘Solent Wight’ - A reliable softneck variety which is one of the best for its overall eating and keeping qualities.

b>Garlic ‘Red Duke’ - Described as hot and spicy in taste tests. A white-skinned hardneck variety with purple-cased cloves.

b>Garlic ‘Carcassonne Wight’ - Produces pink cloves, similar to Lautrec, but are possibly of a superior bouquet and character.

b>Garlic ‘Provence Wight’ - Provence can produce bulbs that approach Elephant Garlic size. The large, fat cloves are superb in aioli and bouillabaisse, but adds a 'taste of Provence' to all of your garlic recipes.

b>Garlic ‘Germidour’ - This softneck variety produces large, white bulbs with a mild but still rich flavour.

We are really sorry, but this product is no longer available.

Flowering Months Harvest Months
Weed rows of garlic regularly and protect crops from birds by covering them with netting. Garlic is undemanding and will only require watering during particularly dry periods. Harvest garlic from July, when the leaves begin to turn yellow, by loosening them from the ground with a trowel. Gently wash and dry garlic bulbs, then place them in a warm dry position to dry out, prior to storing them. Bulbs can then be stored in good condition for up to 3 months.
Plant garlic in rows in any well drained soil in full sun. It is important that the soil does not become waterlogged so incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to improve drainage and feed the soil. On particularly heavy soils, grow garlic in raised beds. Carefully split the bulb into individual cloves. Plant each clove at a depth of 2cm (1") below the surface of the soil and 10cm (4") apart, leaving 45cm (18") between each row.

Garlic Selection 2011-10-05

Superb, planted in the Autumn, knocking spots off all garlic around, some real quality there. Great for saving some for re-planting later in the year, sorry T & M, great products though

Elephant garlic 2011-09-18

This grew amazingly well for us despite the poor summer,as did the garlic selection. We planted in the spring but this year going to give it a go in the autumn to see if it will survive the Hebridean winter!

Garlic unpeeled! 2010-03-10

This selection provides an excellent introduction into the world of garlic. In a true sense it offers a valuable taster into the sublty of the different varieties, varieties which are normally unavailable at the supermarket. As a plant it is easy to grow, and once planted in late winter or early spring can be virtually forgotten until ready to harvest, when the true delights are ready for sampling, or if you can resist for storing.
