How to Grow
In very mild areas, grow freesia corms outdoors in full sun on moist, free draining soil. In frost prone areas it is advisable to grow them in a greenhouse or as groups in patio containers that can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Use a loam based compost such as John Innes No.2. Plant freesia corms at a depth of 7cm and 10cm (4") apart.
More Info
Water freesias frequently throughout summer. As they begin die back in the autumn, reduce watering and remove the old foliage. Freesias that are grown in borders outdoors should be mulched with chipped bark to protect them from cold wet weather over winter. Move patio containers of corms to a frost free position during their dormant winter period until they burst back through the soil surface the following spring.
