This exquisite variety is worth growing for its foliage alone! The finely cut leaves are chartreuse yellow making a fabulous contrast with other spring perennials. From April to May, arching stems extend from the neat clumps of foliage, decorated with dangling white, heart-shaped blooms. Dicentra spectablis 'White Gold' thrives in damp, lightly shaded spots where it will shine out from the darkness. Commonly known as Bleeding Heart, Dicentra is a reliable perennial that always makes an elegant display. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Pot up plug plants using free-draining compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting them outdoors. Grow dicentra plants in well drained, reliably moist, fertile ground in partial or dappled-shade. Dicentra prefers a humus-rich, neutral or alkaline soil. Improve soil conditions by adding plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting.
More Info In spring, apply a mulch of chipped bark or well-rotted garden compost to the base of the plant to help retain moisture in the soil during the growing season. Dicentras have particularly fragile roots and are best left undisturbed if possible. However, overcrowded clumps may be divided in late autumn or early spring if necessary.
