Description

Unbeatable for a low maintenance, long lasting display! Daphne is prized for its powerful fragrance and long flowering period. The perfumed blooms are borne on new growth from April and continue to appear throughout summer, right through to October. Even in winter these compact, slow growing shrubs provide plenty of garden interest with their rounded habit and glossy, semi-evergreen foliage. These hardy Daphnes are perfect for narrow borders, containers or anywhere where space is at a premium. Height and spread: 90cm (36").

Collection comprises:
Daphne x transatlantica 'Eternal Fragrance' - Dazzling white blooms contrast beautifully with the deep green foliage.
Daphne 'Pink Fragrance' - Dusky pink blooms perfume the air with an intensely sweet fragrance.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

2 x 9cm potted daphne plants - 1 of each variety (T82000P)

How to Grow
Pot up Daphne shrubs and grow them on in frost free conditions. When plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for a period of 7 to 10 days prior to planting in their final positions. Transplant Daphne plants into borders and containers outdoors in moist, fertile, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Choose a position in sun or semi shade. When growing in containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Daphne resents root disturbance so try to avoid this when transplanting as this may delay plant establishment.
More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, Daphne plants require only occasional attention. Pruning of Daphne is best kept to a minimum, removing only occasional damaged stems and lightly trimming those that spoil the shape of the plant in summer after flowering. Caution: All parts of Daphne are toxic if eaten and contact with the sap may irritate the skin and eyes.
