Delightful Dahlias 2015-10-08

Dahlias are my favourite flower and these seeds have produced some fantastic plants. They germinated easily and quickly and are thriving in my garden. I keep deadheading and they keep flowering. I have picked several bouquets of flowers from the plants.

Easy Peasy 2015-09-09

Sprinkled these onto the top of a six inch pot, put it in a tied up freezer bag and put on the windowsill. Germination was less than 48 hours and resulted in 45 plants ( not bad from a pack of 40 seeds). I had to give away about 30 plants and am now dead heading the remainder like mad at the allotment where they are adding a splash of colours. The flowers are stunning for so little effort and look like they should be much more difficult to grow than they actually are.

This is my 2nd year 2012-10-04

The seed was ordered 10th March, received 6 days later and sown same day. All seeds germinated and plants are doing well and are currently 5 inches tall. Last year I retained the most interesting tubers for replanting this year, I will do the same this year. It is a shame that dahlias have fallen out of fashion, especially as they are so easy to grow and the garden is a spectacular sight when they are in bloom. Last year they bloomed up until the first frosts.

Good partners for the Giant Cactus dahlias 2011-08-15

These seeds have been as big a success as the Giant Cactus Dahlias. In fact here we are in August and I have one or two big surprises. These were 100% germination and fast growers, thankfully May was warm and frost free so I managed to plant these out earlier than usual. The garden has been a really colourful bonanza this year . I have just discovered a lovely purple dahlia from this batch six foot tall.I kid you not. I am 6' 4" tall and we look each other in the eye. I hope these seeds will be available next year
