Description
Crinodendron hookerianum is a stunning evergreen shrub which bears rich, red, lantern shaped blooms, hence why it is also known as the ‘Chilean Lantern Tree’. It thrives in the UK climate and it is easy to see how it become a holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit. The slender, glossy, green leaves are the perfect contrasting accompaniment to the vibrant red blooms which appear from spring and into the summer. Height and spread 5m (16’).

2 x 9cm potted crinodendron plants (KC0293)

How to Grow
Plant in fertile, well-drained and fertile soil in partial shade or sun, as the roots will appreciate being kept cool and shaded as it prefers a sheltered position behind a wall for example.
More Info
In the late winter, feed with a fertilizer which is slow releasing, and add mulch around the shrub with ericaceous compost, leaf mould and pine needles. Remove any damaged or dying branches to help flowering for the following year.
