Description
Hardy deciduous shrub grown for its attractive twisted stems and yellow male catkins in late winter and early spring. The heart- shaped, toothed, mid green leaves are up to 10cm (4") long. Slow growing, of more compact habit than most Corylus avellana varieties, and could be grown in a large patio container in sun or part shade, or planted in a shrub border. Grows in fertile, well drained soil, particularly likes chalky soils. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 150cm (59").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

2 x 7.5 litre potted corylus plants (TKA3099)
1 x 7.5 litre potted corylus plant (KA3098)

How to Grow
Grow Hazel plants in any fertile, well drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Varieties with coloured foliage will be at thjeir best when grown in full sun. Corylus tolerates alkaline soils well, making it useful in chalky areas.
More Info
Feed and water Hazel regularly until fully established. Once established Corylus requires little maintenance. Remove any crossing, damaged or misplaced stems in late winter or early spring to maintain a pleasing shape and open habit.
