Description
The compact, bushy habit and striking red stems of this hardy, herbaceous shrub means that Cornus alba 'Baton Rouge' has established itself as the number one red dogwood. Ovate, dark green leaves, often turning orange or red in autumn, together with white flowers in spring and blueish-white berries in late summer, offers fabulous colour all year round. For even more of a spectacular display, under-planting with snowdrops will provide an eye-catching scene in winter. Perfect for use in containers, under-planted with grasses, bulbs, primroses and hellebores. Height & Spread: 200cm (79").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant Dogwood into garden borders in any moist, well drained garden soil. Grow in full shade or part shade, neutral to acid soil. Cornus can also tolerate damp soils or an exposed position.
More Info
To encourage plenty of colourful stems, Dogwood will need regular pollarding in early spring. Cut back all Dogwood stems to 3 buds above soil level or to a permanent low framework. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant after this pruning. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
