Sowing Months Flowering Months

In autumn, a few plants can be lifted before the frosts, potted and brought into the house or greenhouse to extend the flowering season. In very cold winter areas it helps to protect the base of the plants with leaves etc.

Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
Sow from late winter to early spring at 15-18C (60-65F) on the surface of a good seed compost and do not exclude light. After sowing sealing in a polythene bag until germination is beneficial. Germination usually takes 15-28 days. Cover the seedlings lightly with compost when they germinate.

When seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into 7.5cm (3in) pots and grow cool. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost 38cm (15in) apart in sun and ordinary well drained soil.
