Description
Chives are a bulbous perennial which are very popular in most herb gardens as they are easy to grow and require little maintenance. They shoot up with erect cylindrical, onion scented leaves and in the summer mauve coloured blooms even appear, adding a rare splash of colour to the herb garden. Simply just dead head the flowers as they begin to die back. Plant in borders, beds, or containers. Height 40cm (16”) and spread 30cm (12”).

3 x 9cm potted chive plants (KB9467)

How to Grow
Grow Chives in full sun on any well drained soil. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil to improve its structure and fertility prior to planting. When growing herbs, ensure that they are planted within easy reach of the kitchen.
More Info
Once established, chives require little aftercare. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps in spring.
