Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Filifera Aurea'is a striking conifer with a graceful weeping appearance. The feathery branches bear evergreen cord-like, golden foliage that droop at the branch tips. Forming a shaggy mound when young, Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Filifera Aurea' matures to an upright conical tree with time. This distinctive Sawara Cypress is extremely slow growing taking years to reach its mature height. Awarded a coveted RHS AGM, this low maintenance conifer can be enjoyed in rockeries and smaller gardens over many years, without becoming unruly. Ultimate height after many years: 12m (39'). Ultimate spread after many years: 8m (10').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Cypress trees in moist, well drained soil. Chamaecyparis prefers a neutral or acid soil but does tolerate chalky soils well. Choose a position in full sun.
More Info
Once established, Cypress trees require virtually no maintenance. When grown as a hedge, prune Chamaecyparis at any time between late spring and early autumn, taking care not to prune into older wood.
