Description

Show off this exotic shrub on your patio and it’s bound to attract attention! Callistemon linearis has narrow evergreen leaves on woody stems which provide interest throughout the year, then in summer it treats you to a jaw-dropping display of fiery red ‘bottlebrush’ flowers. Not only do they put on a punchy show of colour, but they attract bees and butterflies too. Ideal for growing in a large container, you can enjoy it as an indoor or conservatory plant through the cool months, then bring it out in summer to display on the patio. Height: 3m (10’). Spread: 4m (13’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Pot up bottlebrush plants and grow them on in a cool, bright position until large enough to plant outside. Prior to transplanting, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days. Plant Callistemon in a sheltered position in moist, well drained, non alkaline soil in full sun. Callistemon linearis plants are hardy down to 5°C (41°F). This species of bottlebrush is best grown in a cool conservatory or planted in a patio container that can be moved to a warm position over winter.
More Info
Lightly prune bottlebrush shrubs in autumn after flowering. Reduce the stems to fit the available space, and remove any damaged, crossing or wayward stems. If necessary Callistemon plants will tolerate occasional hard regenerative pruning. Deadhead faded bottlebrush flowers regularly to prolong their display.
