These unusual Slipper Flowers will certainly attract attention in spring. Their vibrant, orchid-like blooms are borne above a neat mound of evergreen foliage April right through to mid-summer. Calceolaria ‘Calynopsis Cerise’ makes an excellent conservatory or patio plant, adding an exotic feel to a prominent container where it can really be appreciated. Calceolaria ‘Calynopsis’ prefer an ericaceous soil, in a sheltered, sunny spot. Although generally grown as annual bedding, Slipper flowers are perennial if kept in frost free conditions over the winter months. Height and spread: 30cm (12").

Grow Calceolaria in moist, well drained, non-alkaline soil in sun or semi shade. Alternatively plant them in containers using an ericaceous John Innes No. 2 compost mix.
More Info Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season, but take care not to overwater as this will cause the plant to rot. Container grown plants may be moved to a frost free location in autumn, and returned outdoors in the following spring when all risk of frost has passed.
