Description
January King has the best flavour of the winter cabbages/ savoys, also has crisp & crunchy texture. ‘ Deadon F1’ produces the traditional much flatter than round head and attractive red tinge to the outer leaves. ‘Deadon F1’ colours up earlier than other similar varieties, and the colour further intensifies as colder winter weather approaches. The head when sliced up for cooking or adding to autumn and winter stir fries has a lovely pale yellow internal colour. ‘Deadon F1’ matures approximately 110 days from transplanting, and the heads remain in condition for many weeks as ‘Deadon’ has excellent hardiness to the end of January.

More Info
Water cabbages regularly particularly during dry periods. Feed throughout the growing season with a high nitrogen feed. Hoe between plants regularly to prevent weeds from establishing and bring insect larvae to the surface. Draw earth up around the base of each stem to prevent wind rock and improve the plants stability. Harvest Cabbage in late autumn and winter once the heads have matured. Culinary note: Vitamin rich cabbages are particularly high in iron and potassium, but also low in calories.
