Sunflower 'Russian Giant' - Start-A-Garden™ Seed Range
Just£0.89 (was £1.49)
The Kew Flowerhouse range of seeds from Thompson and Morgan has been specially created alongside the experts at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, to bring the beauty of the garden inside. This outstanding range of handpicked seeds are perfect for enjoying in the garden or in the home. This range includes show-stopping flowers and elegant floral fillers ideal for a bouquet.
Immensely popular with professional florists, Bupleurum rotundifolium ‘Green Gold’ is valued for its zingy lime green flowers held on long wiry stems. The flowers are complemented by neatly rounded leaves which resemble a Eucalyptus, with the stems piercing through the centre of each leaf. This easy-going but unusual annual is a superb foliage filler, providing texture and sparkle in mixed borders, amongst wildflowers and in vase displays. It has an exceptional vase life and also makes a pretty addition to dried arrangements. Allow it to self-seed for random drifts of fresh seedlings in future years. Height: 80cm (31"). Spread: 40cm (16").

Direct sow Bupleurum seed outdoors where they are to grow from March to May or in September for overwintering. Autumn sowings will flower in late spring. Choose a position in full sun on any well drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly but do not cover as light will aid germination. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Germination usually takes 14-30 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 40cm (16") apart.
Alternatively, sow Bupleurum indoors from March to May at a temperature of 15-29C (59-84F). When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors.
