Description
This unusual bulb, originating from the Middle East, is rarely seen in gardens. The stunning flowers of the Blue Mountain Lily appear from May to July in a frenzy of royal blue trumpets carried on upright stems. After flowering, it retreats into dormancy for the dry summer period before returning the following year. Ixiolirion is perfectly hardy if naturalised in sheltered borders, but makes a lovely container plant too. Height: 30cm (10"). Spread: 10cm (4").

How to Grow
Plant Ixiolirion in well drained, rich fertile soil, in full sun. A warm, sheltered spot at the base of a wall is ideal, or they can be grown in containers in loam based compost such as John Innes No.2. Plant bulbs at a depth of 15cm (6") and 10cm (4") apart. For natural looking drifts of Blue Mountain Lilies, gently cast them across the planting area and plant them where they land!
More Info
Feed and water Blue Mountain Lilies regularly while they are in active growth. When the foliage begins to die back, reduce watering and allow the soil to dry out in order to provide Ixiolirion bulbs with a dry, dormant period over summer. Blue Mountain Lily bulbs that are planted outdoors should be protected from wet winter weather with a dry mulch of bark chips or leaf mould.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
