Description
This popular Japanese Barberry is well loved for its colourful purple foliage that turns to bright red in autumn. Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea bears its yellow blooms in spring along the length of each branch, which are loved by pollinating insects. Bright red berries follow the flowers, providing a rich source of food for wild birds. This hardy, resilient shrub has a dense, rounded habit that makes a good specimen shrub for borders and wildlife areas, or planted as a spiny hedge. Height: 100cm (40"). Spread: 250cm (98").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
