Description
It’s no surprise that Begonia Viking™ XL 'Red on Chocolate' scooped the prestigious AAS Flower Award for 2019. The dark foliage is outstanding, retaining its rich colouring all season long, whether it’s planted in sun or shade. Dazzling scarlet blooms create an eye-popping contrast, with a display that lasts right up to the first frosts! This magnificent new Begonia has a compact, mounding habit that retains its bushiness without becoming leggy. A real show-stopper for your patio containers, or planted en masse in beds and borders. Not only will these stunning begonias flower for up to six months, they’ll also grow to up to 66cm (26") tall – making them an eye-catching patio plant all summer long. Height 66cm (26") and spread: 91cm (36").

Please note that young foliage emerges green and gradually matures to its distinctive rich bronze colour.

How to Grow
Pot up Begonia plug plants into 9cm pots and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions, away from direct sun. They can be transplanted into their final containers once they have increased in size. When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise begonia plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before planting them in their final positions in containers, beds and borders. Choose a sunny or semi shaded position that is protected from strong winds.
More Info
Feed and water Begonia plants frequently throughout the growing season taking care not to over-water, as this will cause new flower buds to drop. Deadhead faded begonia flowers regularly to extend the flowering period and encourage more blooms to be produced.
