Description
Asclepias incarnata 'Soulmate' boasts a profusion of deep-pink flowers with delicate white centres, and a light vanilla fragrance. This charming hardy perennial makes a fine addition to perennial borders and wildlife areas, where it attracts clouds of butterflies to its nectar rich blooms. As the flowers fade, they are replaced by intriguing seedpods which can be used in fresh or dried cut flower displays. Asclepias incarnata ‘Soulmate' prefers a moist, fertile soil, but shows surprising tolerance to dry conditions once established. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 60cm (24").

1 bare root plant (KB1783)

How to Grow
Plant bareroots at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Grow swamp milkweed plants in any fertile, moist soil in full sun. Asclpeias incarnata prefers a reliably moist soil and is well suited to growing beside streams and ponds.
More Info
Water young plants regularly until they are fully established. Deadhead the first flush of blooms when they fade to promote a second flush of vibrant swamp milkweed flowers. Leave the faded flower heads of any subsequent blooms intact at the end of summer to enjoy an attractive autumn seed head display. When the first frosts blacken the stems, cut them down to ground level. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Asclepias in spring.
