Description
An elegant compact climber adding luxury to summer patios, cool greenhouses and conservatories. Masses of floral colour from early summer to the first hard frosts of late autumn. The pretty pink trumpet flowers, each up to 5cm (2in) long, look to be a cross of foxglove and snapdragon flowers and are just as loved by bees and other pollinators. Self-twining stems make this an easy climber for container frames and obelisks as well as netting and trellis in border locations. Grow this tidy climber in a large pot and move to a frost free spot each winter, or simply sow each spring. Height and Spread: 210cm (84in).

1 packet (100 asarina seeds) (KB9358)

Sowing
Sow from early February to mid April in a good seed compost just covering the seed with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite. Germination takes 14-21 days at 20-24C (70-75F). Seal in a polythene bag after sowing and don't exclude light.

When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions. When well rooted, plant into baskets or container, using a good soil-less compost with some Sow-Lite (vermiculite) added. Leave in a shaded greenhouse for 2 weeks and then gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before moving outdoors, after all risk of frost has passed, to a sunny, sheltered spot.

More Info

Water well and feed once a week through the summer. To overwinter, bring indoors to a cool, frost free place in autumn and keep just moist. For a windowsill pot plant, grow on in a 13cm (5in) pot.
