Description

Japanese Anemones are stalwarts of cottage gardens and perennials borders. This superb collection brings together 3 well known cultivars that will bring plenty of late summer interest to your garden. A host of delicate windflowers rise above the attractive green foliage, attracting pollinating insects to their nectar-rich blooms. Hardy and resilient, these undemanding perennials will return year after year, requiring very little maintenance.

Collection comprises:
Anemone x hybrida 'Honorine Jobert' - A classic Anemone, which is incredibly easy to grow, and gives impressive displays from late summer to autumn. Height and Spread: 90cm (35").
Anemone x hybrida 'September Charm' - Rose-pink blooms, with outer petals softly tinted in purple, will revive fading borders right through to early autumn. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 40cm (39").
Anemone hupehensis var. japonica 'Prinz Heinrich' - From late summer, each tightly rounded bud reveals semi-double flowers, with delicately rolled petals that fade to paler pink as they mature. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 60cm (24").

How to Grow
Plant your Anemone plants out on moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade. Plants are generally unfussy and, once established, will last for years, although try to avoid excessive winter wet.

These plants are lifted from the nursery field when dormant, and sent to you in late autumn or spring for planting. They often look dead on arrival, but they are just resting in the dormant period and will establish quickly for a strong start in the garden come spring. Set out in prepared soil in holes wide enough and deep enough to lay out the roots. Tread down the planting soil to knock out air pockets. Water well to settle. Apply a mulch to protect roots from cold temperatures. If conditions prevent immediate planting, set roughly into loose soil or a pot of compost (‘heeling in’) to protect the roots. The growth points of most bare root perennials should be set about an inch below the soil surface. New growth will appear in spring.

More Info
Cut back anemone flowers as they fade. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of anemones in spring or autumn. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
