It’s easy to see why Alliums are loved by gardeners! Their stiffly upright stems and spherical flower heads create architectural silhouettes in late spring borders. This superb collection brings together an impressive range of varieties that will bridge the gap between spring bulbs fading and summer perennials bursting into bloom. Whether you plant them in borders or containers, they are best grown in dense groups for the most effective display. These low maintenance Alliums thrive in a sunny spot on free draining soils.

Allium 100 Cottage Garden Collection comprises:

  • 3 bulbs x Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ - Globes of starry purple flowers that measure up to 8cm (3”) across. Height: 90cm (36”). Spread: 10cm (4”).
  • 35 bulbs x Allium moly - A vigorous little allium with golden yellow flowers that is ideal for naturalising in informal planting schemes. Height: 15cm (6") Spread: 5cm (2").
  • 3 bulbs x Allium Mount Everest - Globes of more than 50 star-shaped blooms during June. Height: 1.2m (3.9’). Spread: 15cm (6”).
  • 20 bulbs x Allium roseumPretty clusters of flowers that vary from pale pink to rich rose in late spring and early summer. Height: 65cm (26”). Spread: 8cm (3").

How to Grow
Alliums thrive in light sandy, well drained soil in full sun. Avoid planting in cold wet soils as the bulbs are prone to rot in these conditions. Plant allium bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4") and a distance of 10cm (4") apart. A slow release fertilizer can be added to poor soils at the time of planting to improve fertility. When growing alliums, plant them where the leaves of other plants will cover the base of their stems. This will hide the old foliage which dies back before flowering begins.
More Info
Alliums require little maintenance. Leave stems of faded allium flowers intact to enjoy their spectacular seedheads in autumn. Divide overcrowded clumps of alliums after flowering. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
