Description
Stunning, large flowers of lilac-blue are borne upon intense blue, upright stems and deciduous green, strap like leaves in mid to late summer. This African Lily can be grown in a large pot or in a moist but well-drained garden. In autumn, we advise moving potted Agapanthus umbellatus 'Ovatus' to a sheltered spot, or apply a dry mulch in winter if grown in a border. Height: 120cm (47"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Pot up agapanthus plants using a good quality compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown, acclimatise African Blue Lily plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting out on rich fertile, well drained soil in full sun.
More Info
Feed and water African Blue Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
