Description

It’s easy to see the appeal of this new dwarf Agapanthus! Tight clumps of strappy, evergreen foliage create good ground cover, while the summer display of upright, sky-blue flowers last for weeks on end, and make magnificent cut flowers.

Compact and much shorter than most varieties, Agapanthus ‘Tom thumb’ is perfect for the front of borders, or planting into summer containers. When grown en masse the effect is mesmerising, making this a great choice for narrow borders that edge pathways and buildings. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 30cm (12").

For the perfect patio display, choose one of our Agapanthus and Sabina patio planter options. The dark grey pot compliments this variety to perfection. Made from durable, weatherproof plastic, this smart container will suit any garden style. Diameter: 32cm (12.5"). Height: 23cm (9").

Agapanthus 'Tom Thumb' is protected, or under application stage to be protected under UK or European Law. Unauthorised propagation is illegal. Royalties from the sale of this plant go back to its breeder to fund production.

How to Grow
Pot up agapanthus plants using a good quality compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown, acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting in their final positions. Grow Agapanthus plants in rich fertile, well drained soil, in a sunny position. When growing Agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3 .
More Info
Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
