Pea & Bean Seeds


Peas and beans are easy to grow and great for children too. Sowing in succession (every few weeks) means you'll have a continuous crop throughout the summer. Try growing sweet peas next to your runner beans to improve pollination.

Broad Bean 'Witkiem'

Vicia faba, Fava Beans
This white seeded variety shows excellent tolerance to cold weather making it ideal for early February sowings, but can also be sown successionally through to May. Broad Bean ‘Witkiem’ produces a good crop of plump pods filled with big, tasty beans which can be harvested from June onwards. This excellent variety is delicious eaten fresh, although surplus crops can be successfully frozen. Height: 100cm (39”). Spread: 45cm (18”). More info

Broad Bean 'Green Windsor' - Heritage

Vicia faba, Fava Beans
Broad Bean ‘Green Windsor’ is shorter and broader podded than the Longpods, and slightly later to mature, but remains amongst the best of the heritage varieties for flavour. This flavoursome broad bean averages 4 large, dark green beans per pod which are superb for making soup or as a cooked vegetable. Any surplus beans will freeze well without discolouring.
