Spinach Tetona is a very productive variety producing bright green, smooth, rounded leaves available for picking over a long period. Slow to bolt, and ideal baby leaves for salads. Spinach Tetona also features excellent downy mildew resistance, especially important for spring and autumn sowings. Seeds are in the RHS Vegetable Collection.
If 'baby leaves' are required then no thinning is necessary, for larger plants thin to 5cm (2 inches) apart. Sow 'little and often' avoiding hottest summer periods when most spinach will bolt freely. Water regularly during spells of dry weather. Growing Spinach between taller plants such as Sweetcorn will offer shade and result in better quality in warm summer weather.
Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Harvest April to July, or Sept to Oct with cloches to extend season.
Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above. Plants, bulbs, corms, tubers, shrubs, trees, potatoes etc are delivered at the appropriate time for planting and will be stated on the product page or in your order acknowledgement page and email.
Orders for packets of seed incur a P&P charge of £1.95.

Sown in April 2009 on the west coast of Scotland the Spinach Tetona F1 Hybrid germinated well. The weather was quite dry so I watered every three days. The whole crop immediately bolted so that we ate none.
