 Customer Rating
Later maturing, Sweetcorn Conquerer is well adapted to our indifferent summer weather. Sweetcorn Conquerer has superb eating quality!

Ideal For:
kitchen garden
Flowering Period:
July, August
Sowing Months:
April, May
Position:
full sun
    • 1 packet (30 sweetcorn seeds)

    •
    • Despatch: Within 3 days
    • £2.69
Sow seeds in mid spring 4 weeks before last expected frost in your area, singly 1cm (0.5in) deep in 7.5cm (3in) pots of compost. Germination usually takes 6-10 days at 21-24C (70-75F).

Plant out 45cm (18in) apart when all danger of frost has passed, in blocks of short rows rather than one long row to ensure adequate cross pollination. A warm, sunny sheltered position in fertile, moist yet free draining soil is best.

Once the silks or tassels start to form on the cobs regular watering is helpful. To check that the cobs are ready to be picked pull back part of leaves covering them and squeeze one of the grains, if the liquid is thin and creamy, not watery, the cob is ready. Don't grow next to standard varieties or Butterscotch may lose some of its sweetness.

Reviews
  1. very promising

    By Thomas Lawson 31-08-2011

I am growing this as a first this year for a second crop of sweetcorn to my early as I wanted to extend the cropping season. It has overtaken my summer variety in height already and the cobs look thicker and longer. It is still a little early to harvest but they look promising. I will now grow an early and late harvesting variety year on year if these taste as good as they look
