Known as Christmas potatoes, second cropping varieties do not need to be chitted, are planted in early August and will be ready to harvest in approximately 11 weeks. You can either dig them up and eat them in late Autumn, or store them for your Christmas dinner! Protect them from frosts to be sure of getting a good harvest - growing them in bags or containers allows you to easily move them to a frost-free position.
Potato 'Maris Peer' (Christmas)
Second cropping (Christmas).
Favoured by restaurants and gardeners alike. The firm creamy yellow fleshed tubers of Potato 'Maris Peer' retain their colour and have a superb flavour, but won't disintegrate on cooking. This outstanding Christmas cropping variety also boasts the most attractive, slightly scented purple flowers. Perfect for that 'New Potato' taste out of season. Ideal for growing in potato bags. Height and spread: 60cm (24").
