Herbs are very easy to grow and are essential ingredients for all types of cooking, as well as injecting life into a salad. Grow them on your windowsill or create a herb garden just outside your kitchen door, so that you can easily pick a few leaves to add to your meals.

Mint

Mentha x piperita, Peppermint

The ideal accompaniment to roast lamb - homemade mint sauce is hard to beat! Add to boiled new potatoes and peas, make mint jelly or garnish summer drinks. Growing mint plants is so easy and this aromatic herb plant has a multitude of culinary uses. This vigorous perennial is best planted in a container to control its spread. Height: 30cm (12"). Parsley 'Lisette'

Petroselinum crispum, Curly Parsley, Curled-leaf Parsley

An improved 'Green Pearl' type, producing a vigorous rosette of longer stems with more pronounced, finer curled dark green leaves, that stand well without yellowing or bolting. Curled leaved parsley is a useful, low maintenance addition to herb gardens.
