Horseradish Root

Grow horseradish in any fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Plant horseradish roots (thongs) in spring or autumn at a depth of 30cm (12") and at a 45° angle. Cover with soil and water well after planting. Alternatively grow horseradish in large containers to restrict its vigorous growth. Use a good quality compost such as John Innes No. 2 and position in full sun.

Horseradish requires little attention but will appreciate watering during particularly dry periods. Harvest the roots in autumn by lifting the entire root with a garden fork. Horseradish may be stored in a paper bag in the fridge for up to a week after harvesting. Caution: Fumes from horseradish roots may irritate the eyes during culinary preparation. Contact with horseradish may irritate the skin and eyes.

Orders which include any other products will incur a P&P charge of £4.95.
Where an order includes both packets of seeds and other products a maximum P&P charge of £6.90 will apply - regardless of the number of items ordered.
