Description

I am a climbing plant that will produce lots of pale green, round, decorative, spiny fruits which you can turn into decorations and characters. I am so prickly you will think I am just like a hedgehog. Height: 1.2m.

Use my fruits to make decorations, characters, or a whole family of hedgehogs. We will last up to 3 months.

Did You Know? Real hedgehogs like to curl up in dry places, under piles of leaves and twigs or under a hedge.

Sowing Instructions

Sow 2 or 3 seeds 5cm deep in a pot or tray of seed compost. It is important you sow me on my side and not flat as I might rot. Put me in a greenhouse, propagator or warm place at 20C. When I start to grow protect me from direct sunlight so I do not scorch.

Growing Instructions

Put each seedling into a 7.5cm pot of its own. Use compost that is just moist and keep at 20C.

Aftercare

Once all the frost has gone, plant me in a sunny, well-drained place in the garden or a pot, 30cm apart.

Kitchen Notes

ASK AN ADULT TO HELP - When my fruits start to appear, use a potash fertiliser, and water and mulch me regularly.

Caution

Do not eat me as I am very bitter and do not taste nice.
