Description

Flat-leaved parsley, with its more intensive flavours, is increasingly popular in the kitchen, and is indispensable for a huge range of cooked and salad dishes. Parsley Italian Giant is suitable to grow in pots on the windowsill virtually all the year round.

Due to the wide ranging pest and disease resistance of Parsley Italian Giant, there will be no need for the use of chemicals, making it ideal for organic gardeners.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds April to July outdoors, August to March indoors in pots on the windowsill. Sow seeds 13mm (½in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Outdoor, early sowings may take up to 28 days to germinate. Sow successionally monthly for virtually all the year round cutting of fresh leaves.

Growing Instructions

When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 23cm (9in) apart.Can also be sown under glass in 7cm (3in) pots of free draining seed compost. Keep at 18-20C (64-68F) until after germination. Gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions before planting out when risk of frost has passed.

Aftercare

A few plants can be grown on a windowsill for regular picking of fresh leaves.
